Sermon Series 2022: Discipleship

“If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up the cross (daily) and follow Me.”

In Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34 and Luke 9:23, Jesus makes a very explicit and unequivocal call to all those who hear: that to be followers of Christ, one must deny himself, take up his cross and follow Him. This is the unmistakeable call to discipleship – a calling and a summoning of Christians to an intentional and decisive response in action.

From this Sunday 24th April through to the end of this year, we will be embarking on a journey of discipleship from the pulpit as well as in our cell groups. As we deliberately and intentionally strive towards the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 3:14), we invite everyone to respond to Jesus’ call to discipleship by embarking on a journey together in life and faith through Scripture as we explore what it means to be a disciple – “to put off our old self… to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph. 4:22-24). With the Gospel that has been seeded in our hearts, it is time to set roots and build a strong foundation for the bearing of spiritual fruits.

In this Discipleship series, we will be exploring
(1) What is Discipleship;
(2) Living A Spirit-Filled Life;
(3) Living By Faith (study from Habakkuk);
(4) Living In Christ (study from Galatians); and
(5) Awaiting The Hope Promised (study from Malachi).
